I love talking to friends. It’s the way I feel loved. Some people like hugs best, others like compliments or gifts. Me? I like a good long chat.

When I’m with a good friend, it’s like coming home. Everything is comfortable, we don’t have to impress or stand out. It doesn’t matter if my hair is perfect or my makeup is on. I like just getting in each other’s heads and talking about all kinds of things.
Chatting is how we get to understand someone else. How I know whether they prefer sunshine or thunderstorms, chocolate or vanilla, green or blue. It’s how friends communicate.

Of course, there are other forms of communication – body language, facial expressions, silence. And sometimes it’s great just to sit quietly with someone and say nothing.

People say all kinds of things about God, and about prayer. Some folks use prayer like a wish list for Santa, others act like it’s a complaining festival. But really, to me, prayer is just like sitting in front of my fireplace, talking to my best friend.
I like praying. It lets me get close to God. I talk to Him, and He talks to me. It’s how we get in each others’ heads. It’s how we understand each other. Prayer is good like that.

I watch how other people pray, and sometimes I wonder if the world wouldn’t be better if we all just took some time to chat with God.
To let Him get inside our heads. Maybe this planet would be a nicer place?
